The aluminium drill pipe production facility was commissioned in 1975. The plant is a full-cycle operation - from casting ingots to shipping of finished products.

In 1978 the output reached 30 000 tons.

 More than 150 000 tons of lightweight drill pipes have been produced by the plant during its history. This equals to 9 000 000 meters of drill pipes. 

The drill pipe facility was spun off from KUMZ in January 2007 in order to assure a dynamic production of drill pipes. The new operation received the name Drill Pipes Ltd.

More than USD 6 million was invested in upgrading the existing equipment and purchasing of a new pipe finishing line and quality control equipment.
